Uttoradhikar 2017
Uttoradhikar, meaning "inheritance", is a series featuring students who have completed BIPA's five- year course and gone on to the advanced level. These students must be selected by their instructors to be featured in this solo recital. The first installation of Uttoradhikar was in 2003, and to date, it has featured 15 vocalists, 2 dancers, and 1 tabla soloist.

Zarrin Maisha
Zarrin Maisha started attending BIPA at age 4. She completed her 5 year courses in Bangla, singing and dance and continues to take advanced classes. She has participated in several workshops and received numerous awards, including BIPA's Sreshtho Award for best student (2011), the Dhaka University Alumni Association Award for International Mother Language Day Children's Competition Winner (2008-2017), and 1st place for the Bangladesh Consulate Essay Competition (2014-2017).
In addition to presenting solo performances in New York, Zarrin Continues to perform with BIPA at various events both in the Bengali community as well as mainstream venues. She also helps Annie Ferdous teach dance classes at BIPA.
Zarrin studied singing at BIPA under the guidance of Nilofar Jahan and Selima Ashraf, and has been training for her Uttoradhikar performance under the direction of Selima Ashraf. Aside for all of her accomplishments at BIPA, Zarrin completed a six-month course for Bangla recitation at SHOBDO Recitation Institute and Cultural Media Inc, led by Evan Chowdhury. She has also acted in 2 stage dramas directed by renowned Bangladeshi Actor, Jamal Uddin Hossain. Currently, Zarrin is a senior at BARD High School Early College. She is thankful to her teachers, her father Syed Mijanur Rahman and mother Nargis Rahman for helping her learn her culture. She hopes to continue learning and passing down these traditions and roots to new generations.
